Blame Game

Why is it that in the Democratic press conference, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and others blame the 133 Republicans who voted against the Bail Out Bill, when 95 democrats also voted against it? They blame a dozen or so Republicans who were allegedly offended by Pelosi's typical anti-Bush comments for making an emotionally charged vote. Why didn't their party rally behind their fearless leaders? Why wasn't it a major sweep for the democratic party? If it is the Savior Bill that they are touting, why wouldn't they get behind it? And if it passed and was successful, it would validate their competency and judgement over those of the republicans. And is it insane to anyone else that the democrats are falling in line behind the Bush Administration? "Failed policies of the Bush administration"?!?!?!? Why on earth are they trusting his judgement now? I will give you the answer to that last question. It is because this $700 billion bill would give the federal government a socialist power over our "free market system". This opens the door for future socialist programs. The banking system fails now, the federal government buys it for $700 billion. Somewhere in the future, if the health insurance industry starts to fail, the path has been paved for the federal government to buy it out. Outcome, socialized medicine. This has nothing to do with the economy. It is against their religion to throw billions of dollars at big businesses. I believe that those extreme left democrats were only behind this because of future implications, and the power that they would receive. I want to hear from the 95 democrats who voted against this, see what their hesitations were. Do you think we'll hear from them? As we speak they are being taken out behind the capital, blind folded, and read their last rights. Is our country awaiting the financial executioner? I do not believe so. But we are not in a position to play the blame game.

So now what?

BREAKING NEWS: House of Representatives vote against the "Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008", final vote 227:206. Did I call my Congresswoman, Mary Fallin and let her know my position? Yes. Was I against the government putting more money in a corrupt and broken system? Yes. Was I absolutely against government ownership of a major part of our free market system? Yes. Was I positive I was a minority and they would vote for this measure? A resounding yes! So now what!?! Although I am relieved that a majority of those in the House have the same reservations about this 'bail out', I am very anxious about what will happen now. Even though I knew this was not the right answer to such a catastrophe, it was an answer. And right now, the only answer. Is Wall Street going to completely collapse? Will we find ourselves in the middle of a "D-Word"? (notice how no one, current President, candidates, congressmen, etc will not say "depression"?) It is just a waiting game now.

The Debate is ON!

Isn't this sweet? Smiles and handshakes. Kicks and giggles. I'm sure it will be a lovefest!

Not really. There will be below-the-belt jabs, done with a smile and possible wink. There will be many, "Although I respect [Sen. McCain or Sen. Obama] I believe...." but that will be as close as we get to a lovefest. As it should be. I want to see strength. I want to see firm positions. I want to hear actual solutions. Will we? Probably not. But I would like to bet how many times we hear these gems:

"Drill baby drill" (I will bet twice)
"Worry about Main Street, instead of Wall Street" (6 times)
"The policies of the last administration" (11 times)
"I work across party lines" (8 times)
"4 more years of Bush" (14 times)
"Forgotten Middle Class" (6 times)
"In my economic plan, I will lower taxes" (7 times)
"Billions of dollars in Iraq" (12 times)

What's your bets? Share other possible phrases!

History Lesson

Although I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in History, does not mean I can recall every name or date from the beginning of time. But there are a few things I do remember. The stock market crash is one of the most well known dates in US history, Tuesday, October 29th, 1929. The President at the time was a newly elected, Herbert Hoover. Senator Joe Biden was obviously confused when he made this statement, in an interview with Katie Couric:

Televisions as we know it weren't around till 1936. What he might be confused with was Franklin D. Roosevelt's Fireside Chats, which started March 12, 1933. And to his credit, Roosevelt was still in the midst of the Great Depression and trying to rally the American people. Yet, what I find disturbing was the contrast to Sarah Palin's Charles Gibson interview. If she would have made this slip-up, he would have circled and swooped in on the fresh VP carcus, hungry for the young and inexperienced meat the media has portrayed her as. Yet, nothing is said, no corrections made. And I'm so glad that Senator Biden defined a leader as someone "who knows what they're talking about".

Natural Consequences

You touch fire, you get burned. You leave milk out, it spoils. You step on something fragile, it breaks. You buy a home out of your price range, you go into foreclosure. You charge excessive amounts on your credit cards, your items get repossessed. CEO's lie about the value of their products, they go to jail.

Or are natural consequences outdated?

The government seems to think so. The Presidential Candidates seem to think so. Henry Paulson seems to think so. You made bad money decisions? You lied about your financial situation? Never fear! (Cue Superman's theme song)

Federal Government is here!

"Here I come to save the day!"

And how do they rescue the damsel in distress, tied to the railroad track? With 700 billion dollars! But Superman can't fly anymore, he's carrying a $9.7 trillion weight around his shoulders. Why on earth would we trust a super hero with our money and retirement, who has a negative $9.7 trillion balance in his bank account? I don't. I absolutely do not want the government to bail out the housing market. Here is why:
  • Aiding corruption: Why did the housing market fall? Why are these financial institutions failing? They were built on lies and deception. My husband used to work for a national financial institution, and had to quit. He had low numbers. Fiscally ignorant people came with their upside down balance books, and his company wanted him to push profit making products. They would look at him and ask, "Is this the best route for me financially?" And how grateful I am, he honestly told them "Absolutely not. This is what you need to do..." This was in a small branch in Oklahoma. I shudder to think how grand the cover-ups and how deep the deception is on Wall Street. In the criminal system, you can be charged with aiding a felon. Why is the government seeking to do so?
  • Stupid people: People have fallen into the mentality that just because they work a 9-5pm job with an hourly pay they deserve a home. And not just any home, their dream home. Theater rooms, granite counter-tops, 3 car garages. All to store their stuff, bought on credit cards. The average American household with just one credit card has $9300 balance. What happened to saving now, buying later? Did you also know that 1/3 of American's who bought a home in the past 5 years owes more on their house than it is worth? I know many smart, hard working people who don't own homes. They have worked extremely hard to afford what they have, and take pride in their accomplishments. These are the everyday heroes who hold up our economy.

Bottom line: The country needs a reality check. The country needs the natural consequences of being greedy. What happened to the Prodigal Son when he squandered his inheritance? He ate with the pigs. The government is trying to prevent those who have squandered their inheritance from eating with the pigs. I see the bail-out as putting a Dora Bandaid on a gaping head wound. This will only be a temporary fix, because the root of the problem isn't being addressed. This is not a bail out, it is a sell-out. And we will be paying for it.

Who is your candidate?

Follow this link and take this test. It will break it down for you based on the issues.

Am I loosing my mind?

There is a weird phenomenon that happens sometimes. We find something deplorable until something worse comes along and then we just wish the original deplorable thing would come back. This is the only explanation for how I am feeling about Clinton lately. When Hillary was looking like the likely nominee early in the primaries I was sick to my stomach at the thought of Hillary as president. I know enough about the issues and her position on the issues to know that the direction she would take the country was NOT my way. I was vocal about my desire for the Republican nominee to be strong enough to beat her at all costs.

Now lets talk Barak Obama. This man scares me!!! In case you hadn't figured out....I consider him the more deplorable thing in my previous analogy. In the short months that I have had to get to know him and his positions I am thinking that if by some chance the Democrats were to win "oh why couldn't it be Hillary?"! Don't get me wrong I don't' believe that the Democrats will win this November but I would take a Hillary presidency over Obama any day. I find him to be so far left I would consider him more of a socialist than any candidate I have ever known.

Then today I saw this clip of Bill Clinton on the View. Is it just me or does he seem to not like Obama either? He just won't come out and say "Obama is our guy" We waffles and says how much he likes them both and then says "Yes, many democrat woman are moving over to McCain and Palin....but we can't judge their reasoning for doing this" What? If this were anyone else I am telling you I know Bill Clinton would be a strong advocate of his party's candidate. He almost seems to be a McCain supporter at the end of this....hmmm I just find it all very interesting.

Privacy

What does your e-mail say about you? Are there messages in your Inbox you never wanted in there? Are there correspondences with friends or family you would never want made public? Is hacking into someones e-mail part of the 'vetting' process?
I find it deplorable and horrendous that Sarah Palin's e-mail was hacked into and released to the media. And the most incomprehensible part of this latest headliner, is the fact that nothing is being done. Even worse, media sources like CNN and Time magazine are excusing the illegal action as acceptable because she used her private e-mail to conduct some governmental business. What happened to the fourth amendment? "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated..." There was no probable cause. There was no warrant. There was no support from the judiciary or legal system. There was a willing and probably well paid hacker, and a media mob waiting with open arms (holding pitchforks and torches) salivating at the chance of getting any more dirt on a respectably clean woman. I almost wish this would happen on the other side of the aisle, so we could see the outrage and outcry against such atrocity to one of their own.

A new kind of feminism

I am a feminist............for those who know me this may come as a surprise. Feminism is defined as the belief in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes. I fit this definition but feminism has gone awry and I don't fit the mould of the modern feminist. So, feeling disenfranchised from the feminist movement I have created my own brand of feminism. I believe that many of you are feminists like me so I will call myself an "SP Feminist". I know the first thing you may think is "Sarah Palin Feminist". OK that works.

Here is what my brand of feminism is:

I am smart, strong and capable of matching wit for wit and brain for brain any man. Yet, I believe there are limitations to that equality (traditional feminists will be freaking out here) I believe men and women are different. Different doesn't mean better than or less than it just means we are wired different and our bodies have different capacities. A man will never be equal to me as far as baring children is concerned and I may never be able to bench press 176lbs. That is a-ok.

I choose to be a mother. I love being a mother and consider it one of the greatest things a woman can do. I feel as though my contribution to society is a million times greater than any female CEO being paid 3000 times what I am paid. I believe that many of our society's troubles have come from women feeling "less than" if they embrace this role and so they leave their children without the love and nurture and guidance that they need to develop into amazing adults. Yet, I know that if I were to choose I could gain the skills and move into any job I so desire and do just as good a job as any man. I respect women who do work and attain great things in their careers. This is a choice and sometimes a necessity and I respect any woman who does what she desires to fulfill her purpose and support her family. I never look down on a woman who chooses a career. I know traditional feminists denigrate my choice. They may say they don't but look at their treatment of Sarah Palin. I have read some of the most disgusting articles about Sarah Palin by feminists and they didn't just deal with her politics. There are so many women who should be held up as the ideal in feminist circles yet they are not, simply because their politics aren't right or they choose a traditional role.

I don't hate men. I LOVE men. I believe there are many many great men and fathers in the world and I believe that they are integral to their children's lives. A father is not expendable, he is vital. I HATE bad men. I have no tolerance for men who control, hurt or dominate women and children. These men exist but I don't believe that they are the majority. I loathe the bad ones and I admire the good ones.

I would never abort a child. I cherish and value human life. I know as a mother when I became pregnant I knew that there was a unique life and personality developing in me and I believe that child had the right to live. I could pinpoint certain personality traits of each child as soon as they began to move (still within the abortable time period). These are children not body parts or tissue. For some reason modern feminism says that we should have the freedom to choose yet they denigrate MY choice. They see women who choose to be pro life as sellouts.

I believe that a woman could, and will one day, be president. I think that a majority of women are SP feminists even though they may differ on the finer points. I think Sarah Palin is embraced so widely because she embodies what a majority of men and women believe. We love that she is strong, capable, real and will do what any good mother would do, CLEAN HOUSE as she did in Alaska.

Tuesday Terminology: Scandal, Part 1

There are a lot of headlining scandals which are questionable. A lot of accusations but not a lot of actual information. There are several surrounding each candidate, especially Barack Obama and Sarah Palin. No politician has a clean history, and yet each side picks the most salacious and inflammatory detail from 10 + years ago, and makes it seem relevant and essential. I think the most important thing is to educate yourself and decide whether it is relevant and persuasive enough to swing your vote either way. So I am attempting to break down certain accusations, questionable connections, and down right lies and give you the real story. I am starting with Senator Obama.

Sidenote: In my attempt to find 'facts', I started at what I thought would be the most unbiased and reasonable resource, factcheck.org. As I tried searching the 'facts' about Sen. Obama, I was noticing the majority of the articles were about the McCain-Palin campaign. Some would argue it is because they are spouting most of the lies. I would like to throw out there that this website is not delving into Sen. Obama's past because their financial contributor, Annenberg Foundation, was at one point Sen. Obama's employer. He worked as the founding chairman of the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, an educational innitiative.

ACORN: To many of you, including my husband, this is simply a nut, a fruit of the oak tree. But in the political scene it stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. I am sure you have heard about them in the news for voter fraud. Michigan, Nevada, Colorado, Florida, Minnesota...hmmm, all swing states? ACORN has come under investigation because they hold the majority of the fraudulent registration forms, including Mickey Mouse, Dallas Cowboys roster, etc. What does this have to do with Obama? Sen. Obama represented ACORN in a legal dispute in the early 1990's, and also did training seminar's to help with their Project VOTE campaign. Also, ACORN receives a majority of their funding through federal grants, including a chunk from the Bail Out Bill. Of course they would benefit from having one of their own in the White House, but I don't believe that Sen. Obama is personally pushing for voter fraud.

Robert Blackwell, Jr: In 2001, after losing a bid for the U.S. House of Representatives, Sen. Obama went back to working in the Illinois State Senate, but needed some additional forms of income. He received a legal consulting contract to represent Robert Blackwell's company Electronic Knowledge Interchange, a $8000/month retainer. After being compensated in full (around $112,000 dollars), then state Senator Obama sent a 'request on state letterhead urging Illinois officials to provide a $50,000 tourism promotion grant to another Blackwell company, Killerspin'. Since then, Blackwell and his company Killerspin, has been recognized as donating $100,000-$200,000 to Sen. Obama's Presidential Campaign.

Antoin Rezko: A well-known corrupt Chicago entrepreneur has been connected to Sen. Obama in a variety of ways. Initially, Sen. Obama did some legal representation for Rezko's company, Rezmar. (Reportedly helping the company get $43 million in government funding). Rezko served on Obama's 2003 U.S. Senate campaign finance committee, helping raise money. Rezko also threw a fundraiser in his home. After he won the senate race, he used Rezko's real estate connections to buy his home. The sellers were selling both the home and the adjacent lot, which Obama paid $300,000 under the asking price for the house on the same day Rezko's wife paid the full asking price for the land. At the time of Sen. Obama's connection with him, Tony Rezko was under investigation by the U.S. Attorney and the FBI.

My Take: I could make a guess that as I look into all of the names on the Presidential Ticket, I would find similar scandals. I would love to find anyone in Washington that doesn't have some 'questionable' dealings in their past. BUT, the media has focused majority of their 'scandal coverage' on the right of the aisle, had hasn't scrutinized Sen. Obama's past. All of it needs to be discussed, not just the dirty laundry in the Republican basket. Sen. Obama appears to be a genuinely decent man, with questionable judgement. Either he has blind optimism in people's goodness or he will use whoever he can to get ahead, both of which are not the best qualities in my book. I apologize for such a lengthy post, but I find it very important to get to know every aspect of each candidate. Next, I will attempt to take an unbiased look into Sarah Palin's scandals, including Troopergate.

Broken Record

Have you heard the following lately?

"I said, 'Thanks, but no thanks' to the good ol' boys"

"The bad policies of the Bush Administration"

"That is when I learned to put 'Country First"

Are the political writers on strike this fall?

Last year it was the Writers Guild. This year, it has to be the Political Writers Guild. Or does it cost the candidates per speech, they want to get their money's worth? And yes, Man with the Bull Horn, it is very 'unfunny'. The country is in an 'unfunny' situation. The economy is 'unfunny'. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are 'unfunny'. How we take care of our veterans is 'unfunny'. How much the government spends is 'unfunny'. The same rhetoric and smears is very 'unfunny'. The silver lining to all of the unfunniness, is how chaos and frustration creates beauties such as this:

Funny Money

"Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of filling a vacuum, it makes one."

Benjamin wasn't kidding. The mortgage market has become one sucky vacuum. Giving large amounts of money to people who can't afford to pay it back. I saw one figure that Lehman Brothers was $618 billion in debt. $618 billion?!?? I feel nauseous if I haven't paid off our credit card in full immediately. And so they declared bankruptcy. Bank of America swooped in and bought Merrill Lynch. Two large institutions going under. As I am writing this, the DOW Jones closed down 504. Now I couldn't explain what those numbers mean. I couldn't explain exactly how this is going to affect me and you personally. All I know is if the banking institutions have had the same spending habits as a lot of Americans, they have been spending more money than they have. What happened to the concept of "Save now, buy later"? How are the "money people" having financial problems? Does that show what BIG trouble our country is in? And I think the idea that the government is expected to bail out more and more of these financial institutions is a whole lot of

BULL!

Charlie Gibson interviews Sarah Palin

Charlie Gibson interviewed Sarah Palin, which will be broadcast on Nightline over a few nights. Tonights interview was about National Security. I thought it was delicious. The skepticism of Charlie Gibson was edible. His questions were detailed, forceful, and valid. Her responses were educated, concise, and eloquent. His questions would have made most politicians at least pause then give a vague response. Do you think Charlie Gibson was expecting the interview go something like this?

Charlie: Do you believe the United States should try to restore Georgian Sovereignty?
Sarah: Georgia? They can't be sovereign from the United States, only Hawaii and Alaska are sovereign.
Charlie: Georgia the country. A former communist state of Russia?
Sarah: We're closer to Russia here in Alaska than Georgia is!
Charlie: Moving on. Do you consider a nuclear Iran to be an existential threat to Israel?
Sarah: Exi-whatso-shal? Chuck, when you use those big words I need to pull out my portable Rosetta Stone translation software.
Charlie: Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?
Sarah: Do you mean the 10 commandments? Chuck, of course I do.
Charlie: 10 commandments? How did you interpret Bush doctrine for 10 commandments?
Sarah: Well, thats what came from the burning bush. Right Chip? And you know how I cling to my religion, I can't help but interpret any foreign relation policy without the Bible. Because I am on a holy war, and I am ready to reveal myself as a manifested prophetess who is ready to proclaim God's will for the country.

Probably closer to what he expected. Do I think he was unfair in the way he interviewed her? No. Do I think he would interview Obama or Biden with the same zeal? Absolutely not. Actually, here is part of the interview with Obama, while he was on his pilgrimage to Israel. You would expect more grilling questions asked of a Presidential Candidate while he is on a world-wide tour, proving his ability as Commander-in-Chief. And did you catch his "I got lost in a blizzard of words"? What would you call Obama's answers, if you can sift out the "ah" and the "um" pauses, a white out?

What do you think?

Jesus vs. Pilot

Jesus Christ
versus
Pontius Pilate.

These are the real Presidential Candidates. And who broke the news of our Savior's second coming? None other than Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee! I guess that when the Bible says "no man knoweth of the day and hour" of Christ's second coming, I missed the parentheses which included "Except the man, Steven, son of Cohen". I need to stop before I get more sacrilegious.

Rep. Cohen turned a hearing on Bridge Inspection and Repair into a political forum, when he closed his remarks with his now catchy campaign slogan: "Christ was a community organizer. Pilate was a governor." In other words, Obama is like Christ and Palin is like Pilate. I would think Rep. Cohen would be a little more sensitive about bringing religion into politics, considering a horrible religious smear campaign against him while he was running for his current seat. Fliers were circulated with the title: "Memphis Congressman Steve Cohen and the Jews HATE Jesus". Comparing Palin to Pilate is as irrelevant and insensitive as comparing Cohen to the Jews who yelled "Let Him be crucified".

Why is this relevant? It isn't. It is completely asinine to compare any candidate for VP to Pilate, just as insane it is to compare a Presidential Nominee to Christ. It is ridiculous that an obscure clip from C-SPAN, a channel no one seriously watches, has become headline news. It is insane. And let me be the first to welcome you to the Psych Ward of American politics. On your way in, check all common sense and reasoning with Nurse Ratched, take some heavy sedatives, and strap yourself down for a lobotomy.

My beautiful Matt...

Stick to acting!

As many of you know, the man at the top of my "list" is Matt Damon. Even at 8+ months pregnant, I went to a premiere of the Bourne Supremacy to get a glimpse of the actor! I know, I know, I looked absolutely pathetic standing next to the screaming 13 year old with a retainer and braided pig-tails. Moving on....

He voiced his opinion about Sarah Palin as the next possible President. What I found interesting is he finds it scary because he doesn't know anything about her. And then rattles off false information (banning books). The only great clip was his comment about a bad Disney Movie. Yes, it does sound like the plot-line of a bad Disney movie. Probably starring Patricia Heaton, Everybody Loves Raymond mom. Would this be the promotional poster?

Getting back to the issue, we all do need more accurate information about all of the candidates. I feel hers is more readily available, since she isn't neck deep in D.C. politics and interest groups. Here is her official website, while she was governor. But more importantly, research the Presidential candidates. McCain and Obama were the ones who decided, "I think I am ready to run the greatest country in the world". Their voting records, opinions, and understanding of the constitution are the most vital. Sarah Palin and Joe Biden were asked to be a running-mate, based on their 'experience', proven accomplishments, and popular appeal. I will be posting more about each candidate as we get closer to Election Day.

Remembering

Pearl Harbor.

D-Day.

JFK Assassination.

Berlin Wall coming down.

Oklahoma City Bombing.

Columbine.

9.11.01

These are all infamous dates. Tragic dates. Evidence that there is evil in the world. Those who were alive for those events remember exactly what they were doing that day. Who they were with. How they felt. Even the following days. What they did. How different they felt towards their country. How they felt towards their fellowman. How they felt towards their own life. Vowing to never look at the world differently. Do we still have the same appreciation for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Maybe once a year, on the anniversary of 9.11.01 we will remember.

At least 2,966 victims died in the September 11th attacks, including:
There were 266 people on the four planes:
American Airlines Flight 11 (crashed into the WTC): 87
United Airlines Flight 175 (crashed into the WTC): 60
American Airlines Flight 77 (crashed into the Pentagon: 59
United Flight 93 (downed in Shanksville, PA): 41
There were 2,595 people in the World Trade Center and near it, including:
343 NYFD firefighters and paramedics
23 NYPD police officers
37 Port Authority police officers
There were 125 civilians and military personnel at the Pentagon.
1,609 people lost a spouse or partner on 9/11. More than 3,051 children lost parents.

HOME!!!

Question: Do I really think Barack Obama was maliciously calling Sarah Palin a pig? I can only hope he wasn't. I will give him the benefit of the doubt I would ask for if John McCain in his geriatric feebleness makes a slip-up with some old-timer sayings. (If you are unfamiliar with his comment, it is here.)

Background: The saying, "You can put lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig" is referring to the fact that you can try and dress up a problem or issue, but it doesn't change the issue.

My take: Barack Obama used this saying yesterday referring to the McCain-Palin concept of change. The crowd went wild, laughed heartily, and he didn't refute the obvious connection people were making. In his defense, he has used this saying before when referring to Bush's role in the Iraq war. I was curious if John McCain would be under as much scrutiny if he made the same comment about Hillary Clinton and her concept of change? Oh wait...he did. (here) Perhaps Palin has cornered the market of "lipstick" jokes. Don't ask me why, but a song my dad and grandpa used to sing just popped into my head, "There was an old man who had an old sow..." Nevermind.
What other old-time sayings should we throw out this political season considering all the candidates?
"You can put lipstick on a pig..."

"You can't beat around the Bush..." (Majority of what the Democratic party is doing)

[The country is] "going to pot"... It might refer to Barack's former drug use.

"Kick the bucket"... is actually another pig reference. (When slaughtering a pig you tied its back legs to a wooden beam (in French buquet). As the animal died it kicked the buquet.

"Not enough room to swing a cat"....not sure what that means but PETA would be upset.

"Straight laced" Again, a reference to Barack's former drug use.

And of course, "Pot calling the kettle black".

My voice is hoarse, again.

I am guilty of yelling at the tv, again.

In reality, I was laughing out-loud during a Republican Vice President's acceptance speech. Has that ever happened? Not for me. The hardest laugh was when her daughter, holding the baby, licked her hand to fix his hair. Second hardest laugh was when she revealed she sold the former-Governor's private jet on Ebay. What governor does that? Oh yeah, a mom of 5 kids does that.
I know half of the country has been waiting for someone, ANYONE, to question Barack Obama. To question his big words. To question his experience. To question what he has really done. John McCain hasn't done it. The media hasn't paused in Obama-worship long enough to do it. Who finally steps up to the plate? A woman has to get the job done. A beautiful woman no less. And she strips the democrats of all the rhetoric and propaganda with a smile on her face and sweetness in her voice. Hillary Clinton must be fuming. Sarah Palin said everything Hillary wanted to say during the Primary's, but she couldn't pull it off without sounding shrill, and whiney. And what did the CNN commentators think of her speech?!?! What could they possibly say?
"She has an amazing speech writer"
or
"I wonder who wrote her speech".
Seriously? I am no dummy. I know every political candidate has a team of writers, editors, strategists, a colony of political theorists whose sole purpose is to make the candidates sound Presidential. But of all the political candidates, they wonder who wrote her speech? What about the biggest speech giver? But if that is the worst they could come up with, it proves she can hold her own. She has evened the playing field, and now the debates will really determine who will be the next President of our amazing country.
This morning my voice is hoarse.
I am guilty of yelling at the tv.

Last night, I managed to sit through an entire 45 minute speech, for history sake. Yes, I am a history buff. Yes, I greatly appreciate the historical event of last night. Yes, I was even excited to listen to our first Black Presidential Nominee speak on the anniversary of the "I had Dream" speech.

Not once did Barack Obama refer to the Constitution, which as President of the United States all his rights and powers are defined. Dr. King referred to the Constitution as 'magnificent' and 'sacred'.

Barack Obama speaks of a government that will "help families pay for college" and help those "find a job that pays the mortgage", instead of find a home within their salary and sacrifice and save, just as his Grandma did. Dr. King spoke of the "riches of freedom and the security of justice" and he refused to believe that "there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation".

Dr. King wanted the opportunity for his people to live the American dream. Barack Obama wants the government to do "that which we cannot do for ourselves".
I am shocked I did not see this direct quote in Obama's speech "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." Barack Obama see's himself as the great unifier, or I would argue, the great equalizer. Only one infamous philosopher could see this great Change coming when he said, "Democracy is the road to socialism." Thank you Karl Marx. I am afraid we are on that road with Obama in the driver's seat. And on a completely different note....
Sarah WHO!?!?!?

Sarah Palin, 2 year Governor of Alaska. Pro's: Ethically strong, Executive experience, Fiscally conservative, personally Pro-Life (didn't opt for a physician approved medically needed abortion), Gun Owner, strong family values, etc. Con's: Foreign Relations experience, No-National/World exposure experience, no-Washington experience. So in other words, EXPERIENCE! It will be very interesting to see how the mother of 5 adapts to the really public life. Will she get rid of the 90's claw that holds up her thick hair into a french twist? (Of course I'm commenting on appearance, at this point that's all the information I have!) Are you as baffled as I am?
