Christmas Carol

Blagojevich is Going to Jail!
In the tune of 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town!'
You better watch out,
Your phone has a bug.
There is little doubt,
You're a narcissistic thug.
Blagojevich is going to jail!
He screwed the Tribune
And eventually the Cubs
A Children's Hospital
Also got his snub.
Blagojevich is going to jail!

He looks like Erik Estrada
But Elvis is his man.
Obama's seat brought him nada,
But to be thrown in the can!
Oh, he better watch out
He has no friends.
Will corruption in Chicago
Finally end?
Blagojevich is going to jail!

In spreading the Christmas cheer, I thought we could share a quote from the always generous Governor Rod Blagojevich. "If . . . they’re not going to offer anything of any value, then I might just take [Obama's vacated Senate seat]. It is a [expletive] valuable thing, you just don’t give it away for nothing.” In response to President Elect Obama's appreciate for considering his 'Candidate #1', Blago said, "They’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [Expletive] them!" That's the Christmas Spirit! Thank you for reminding us Rod that the true meaning of Christmas is found in bribery, corruption and 'bleeping' expletives.

I was listening to Glenn Beck today. He was talking about how the Democrats really need to clean up their own party. I completely agree. It's not to say that there isn't corruption on both sides, but at least we have examples like Sarah Palin who instead of continuing to blame Democrats, decided to clean up her own party in Alaska--I was hoping that she would do the same to Washington if elected as VP. I have yet to see anyone in the democratic party do the same. This guy is a complete scum bag and how he even got into office is a mystery to me. My question is why do we even bother paying politicians. Seriously! they either use their own money to get into power, so they obviously don't need a paycheck, or they make money hand over fist from lobbiests or through, apparantly selling seats. They are such great "deal" makers. I can think of thousands of other uses of our tax dollars.

P.S. The democrats DID have Lieberman, but instead of standing by him, he was pretty much kicked out of his own party. He gets more support from disagreeing Republicans than he does from his own party.

WOW! DEMS need to clean up their act???? That is rediculous- how about ALL parties need to clean up their act? At least Dems want him OUT- Reps. want their corrupt leaders to remain in power for as long as possible. Here's a list:
1. George W. Bush- let's lie and take our country to an unjust war where thousands of innocent people will die, just because he wants to-and then defend him for the lies he told
2. Jack Abramoff
3.Bob Ney
4. David Safavian
5. Ralph Reed
6. Tom Feeny
7. Tom Delay
8. Kenneth Tomlinson
9. Ted Stevens
10. Scooter Libby

Do I need to go on? My point is this- the Rep. party has just as much cleaning up to do as anybody else- don't pretend to be so innocent!!! This man is obviously disgusting and needs to get out, but so are a lot of Reps!!! Give me a break!

And Sara Palin?? Remember how she was also involved in a scandal- she is not the innocent princess you want her to be. (oh, yeah- that's right- even though it was a Rep. held Alaskan congress who pushed the proceedings forward, it was the dems. who made the big deal out of it. Where's that whole "personal responsibility" thing the reps. preach but don't observe?)

Thank you ladies! This is what I have been missing! A heated debate! My Christmas came early.
First, Christina, welcome back! I haven't heard from you in a while. Now on to business:

1. I agree with you both, if that's possible! BOTH parties have corrupt people. This goes back to my whole theme: Give anyone too much power, and they corrupt themselves. BOTH parties have honest, hard-working people who have the country's best interest as their motive.

2. I agree with Christina's list of questionable to down-right dispicable Republican behavior. Admittedly, I had to look a few up.

3. I agree with Jen's point that 'why should we pay politicians'? It seems they 'fall into money' easily!?

4. I disagree with Christina's point about Bush and Iraq. If his hands were dirty, so were Rice's, Powell's, Blair's, and all those who voted 'yes' to invade Iraq. And yes innocent people have died, majority of them are our brave service men and women. Who volunteered. They knew what they were getting into. We ABSOLUTELY need to take better care of them when they return, treat them as the hero's they are. We ABSOLUTELY should not over-deploy them (4-5 times in a row). I would love to ask the service men and women if they felt 'lied to' and that the war in Iraq should be categorized as 'killing innocent people'. I know some would, but majority wouldn't.

5.If we want to create lists, for both sides, I'm sure it would be lengthy (like this post!) Since we have a Republican list, I will do a Democratic list.

okbushmans said...

I will begin the list with my top two, who are STILL in power!

1. Barney Frank: Chairman of House Financial Services Committe took close to $50,000 of campaign contributions from Fannie/Freddie. In 2003 shot down oversight legislation for Fannie/Freddie, stating we shouldn't 'over-exaggerate these problems' or put 'pressure on these companies'.

2. Chris Dodd: A "Friend of Angelo" received preferrencial treatment in receiving 'below market mortgages' on two homes from Countrywide, then pushed in 2008 for them to receive a bailout. He also holds the title of Top Recipient of Insurance industry contributions (evil insurance companies), and Top Recipient of Fannie/Freddie Contributions. Yet, he still sits as the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.

The door swings both ways, both sides have dirty players. I would rather make a list of HONEST politicians! Anyone...anyone? There has to be some one out there!

Yes, my plan worked. I too have missed the debates and I hoped to get one going. SUCCESS!

Christina, I said that there was corruption on both sides. There is no innocent. All I was saying is that I was glad to know about Sarah Palin and what she did to clean up the rep. party in Alaska. Which no one can debate. She did a great job. And as for her "scandal" I assume you are talking about troopergate. That is HARDLY as scandal. Let's try to dig a little deeper. Also, when I said that I wanted her to go to washington to clean things up there, I was referring to taking on her own party again, the Republican insiders. There was no direct reference to her taking on the dems. Only how the dems treated Leiberman.

"Bush Lies People Died", that in and of itself is a LIE. He didn't lie. If you would like to say something like "Bush Was Wrong People Died" then I could support your arguement.

One final thing. Chicago has been revealed. Their government is corrupt--BIG TIME. So, how does this make people feel about Barak Obama. I am not accusing him of taking part of anything--but it wouldn't surprise me if he did, after all he did emerge from the great corrupt government of Chicago. Interesting.

Jen said...

I need to clarify, I HOPE HOPE HOPE that Barak wasn't part of all of this, or even knew anything that was going on. I am just saying that he was recently part of the system and so I wouldn't be surprised if he knew a few things and kept his mouth shut. I am not chomping at the bit that he is brought down by or related to any of this. I really do want him to be a successful president.

okbushmans said...

I HIGHLY doubt Obama has any involvement. His aides? Maybe. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if his aides helped in the investigation. Three points:

1. Much talk about 'if this was a republican' has gone on. I think this is getting as much press time if it was a Republican. BUT, I don't think their 'possible' involvement would not be so easily dismissed. Every word, interview, connection, even unfounded would be scruitinized. Especially if they promised 'transparency'. I have been pleasantly surprised to see some questioning, but it is a tamer version than what a Republican would get.

2. With that said, I think that the chances are about 4% (Blago's approval rating) that Obama is involved. Did he know about how corrupt Blago was? Probably. And didn't his new chief of staff (Rahm) help blow the whistle? He is in too great of a position to have stoop to that level.

3. This actually raises my approval rating of Obama, that he can be surrounded by such corruption, and reportedly have zero or minimal connection. (Of course we will see). How easy to play dirty politics when it is common place and almost flagrantly thrown in your face! I hope and pray I am right, and he has no connection other than from the same home state. Again, we will see!

I really do hope you are right. But, I think that you might be giving him too much benefit of the doubt. Those guys were so intermingled and for him to know nothing would just baffle me. But that doesn't matter right now, I really am not waiting for the moment Barak is brought down, it's just a thought. But, do you think that if it were republicans in Chicage and Barak was a republican that people would be making greater assumptions about him being involved? I do.

okbushmans said...

I'm not completely convinced it is Republican vs. Democrat, in regards to 'greater assumptions'. I could argue that it is new-party vs. incumbent party. I think that the current incumbent party (President Bush) and the Republican party is under much more scrutiny. Just how Clinton and the Democrats seemed very scrutinized when they were the party.
However, the media has been extremely favorable of Obama. I haven't seen one candidate have such a high media approval rating to start out their career before. But, like I said before, I've been pleasantly surprised that there has been some questioning.
