Mother Nature vs. Father Climate

This is a domestic dispute of epic proportions. A marriage destined for eternity, a relationship as solid as the ice caps, a bond stronger and greater than the equator. Yet, behind closed doors, their temperment fluctuates more than Oprah's scale. Mother Nature has turned a cold shoulder on her former ally, Father Climate, a.k.a Nobel Peace Prize winner, a.k.a. Oscar winner, a.k.a. former Vice President, a.k.a. Albert Gore. You would assume she would stay her ice-princess demeanor until after he addresses Congress in Washington about the deeply concerning Global Warming crisis. But her frigid revenge has fallen over the Capitol, providing the opposite atmosphere needed to validate Gore's urgent plea.

Will this once hot couple begin a smoldering affair once more? Or will our temperatures continue to decline, along with Mother Nature's passion towards her once summer fling? Father Climate will no doubt beg for her warmth once more. Will she give in to his plea's? Only time and your local meteorologist will tell.

I have never seen Al Gore's movie, so I can't comment on it...

I think Denver has had an incredibly warm winter- I have lived here 5 years, and this is the warmest year I can remember- Jen, you might remember better then I can. But with that said, I am from Seattle, and they have had CRAZY winter weather- two inches of snow is considered a harsh winter in Seattle, and they have had FEET of snow dumped on them, plus in the past couple of years they have had huge ice storms and wind storms- my parents were without power for over a week last year- it has been insane when it comes to the weather there.

Granted, Seattle is perhaps one of the most liberal places on the planet (yes, even far too liberal for me), so that might be why things are crazy. I definitely think something is going on- global warming or the second coming, who knows!

In regards to Al Gore's movie, I DVR'd it, and began watching it...but there is something about his voice that bores me. I couldn't make it through, then a week later we lost power and our DVR recordings were erased. So I haven't finished it. If he had someone like Morgan Freeman, or James Earl Jones, or even Matt Damon (I could stay awake for Matt Damon...) narrorate, I might have stuck with it.

Maybe Broadway will do a musical...

Didn't see the movie, but SURPRISE, I've seen people pick the movie apart and show where Al Gore was wrong in his data. And didn't recently one of the main people he worked with on the film admit that he over exaggerated some of the data to make a point. Don't quote me on that, I haven't researched it, I think I heard it in passing....not sure. Either way, it's been pretty cold this week, but last week was worthy for shorts. That's Denver weather for you. Years ago I heard someone say that you know you live in Colorado when you use the heater and the AC in the same day. Also, we have our worst weather typically in March.

I haven't followed anything too closely, but I do know that there is definitely a lot to be disputed re: Al Gore's findings. I'm just sticking with the thought that there isn't much prophecy--ok, there isn't any prophecy regarding global warming so I'm not overly concerned with it. I'll do my part and recycle and turn out lights and hope for energy independence (including more drilling), but the universe is too big and we are just sooooo small.

My take, if the world is suppose to warm up and calamities happen because of it, well, those calamities were prophesied of so there isn't much we can do about it anyway.

HAHA! Love it. My parents say they remember there was concern about an ice age coming in the 70s.
Something to look into. Too bad Gore overlooked the fact that the Earth has always had warming and cooling times. We've been warming up ever since the ice age!!!

Agreed - Al Gore is boring.
See I can agree on something.

That's about it though. But why debate it? The world's apparently ending tomorrow anyway.
