Is being on t.v. the new American dream? There is only speculation that this family faked the emergency that their young son had climbed into a helium balloon and needed to be rescued. It does seem a little orchestrated. You be the judge! Crazy!
I don't know. This one is weird. Since I live in Denver this was all over the local news--for hours straight. The thing that makes me think that MAYBE it isn't a hoax is that people were looking for him all over the place and couldn't find him. They found him several hours later hiding. I just don't know why a little boy would be hiding for hours if he didn't think he was in trouble for something.
I have a (almost) 6 year old, and she is very patient and loves to hide and is also afraid of getting in trouble. There is NO WAY she would have stayed hidden for hours! And why would the other brother lie about seeing him climb in?
I think it is such a horrible lesson to teach your kids that nothing is more valuable than notoriety or being famous. Even honesty, integrity, being considerate of others time and efforts and emotions. And I did see this guy on a rerun of WifeSwap (during one of my late-night feedings), and he was CRAZY! Poor kids.
Sarah! Do you remember watching that Wipe Swap episode!? Todd and I heard about this on the radio and were totally confused about "a boy trapped in a flying contraption and wasn't really in it . . . " and so we looked it up on the internet and when I first saw the Heene dad I was like, "No way!" I was totally laughing because when we watched they were just such a crazy family on Wife Swap!
I can see it both ways. Not a hoax because they do such crazy stuff all the time and the dad seemed to be really passionate and kind of odd-ballish anyway. And, a hoax because they already sought out to be on TV via Wife Swap and he's an independent scientist that may be trying to make a name for himself. I don't know.
Oh, I just read the comment that you did see them on wife swap. So funny. They're just kind of crazy, I think.
