Charlie Gibson interviewed Sarah Palin, which will be broadcast on Nightline over a few nights. Tonights interview was about National Security. I thought it was delicious. The skepticism of Charlie Gibson was edible. His questions were detailed, forceful, and valid. Her responses were educated, concise, and eloquent. His questions would have made most politicians at least pause then give a vague response. Do you think Charlie Gibson was expecting the interview go something like this?
Charlie: Do you believe the United States should try to restore Georgian Sovereignty?
Sarah: Georgia? They can't be sovereign from the United States, only Hawaii and Alaska are sovereign.
Charlie: Georgia the country. A former communist state of Russia?
Sarah: We're closer to Russia here in Alaska than Georgia is!
Charlie: Moving on. Do you consider a nuclear Iran to be an existential threat to Israel?
Sarah: Exi-whatso-shal? Chuck, when you use those big words I need to pull out my portable Rosetta Stone translation software.
Charlie: Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?
Sarah: Do you mean the 10 commandments? Chuck, of course I do.
Charlie: 10 commandments? How did you interpret Bush doctrine for 10 commandments?
Sarah: Well, thats what came from the burning bush. Right Chip? And you know how I cling to my religion, I can't help but interpret any foreign relation policy without the Bible. Because I am on a holy war, and I am ready to reveal myself as a manifested prophetess who is ready to proclaim God's will for the country.
Probably closer to what he expected. Do I think he was unfair in the way he interviewed her? No. Do I think he would interview Obama or Biden with the same zeal? Absolutely not. Actually, here is part of the interview with Obama, while he was on his pilgrimage to Israel. You would expect more grilling questions asked of a Presidential Candidate while he is on a world-wide tour, proving his ability as Commander-in-Chief. And did you catch his "I got lost in a blizzard of words"? What would you call Obama's answers, if you can sift out the "ah" and the "um" pauses, a white out?
What do you think?

Chuck really tried to talk down to her, but she actually wouldn't allow that. She handled him quite well. I don't know what he was trying to accomplish with his blizzard of words comment. She explained herself well regarding invading AF via PK. I also think that is more of a question for McCain. She won't be making that decision. Since when does a VP have to have great experience in foreign policy? Isn't that the
President's job? She'll learn as she goes, and it certainly won't take long at all!
When will you analyze the Bill Oreilly interview? It's on Foxnews.com/oreilly.
Sarah... I loved your version of the interview. Hilarious.
I've never been a huge fan of Charlie but that interview REALLY bugged me. He seemed to talk down to her. And the "lost in a blizzard words?" hmm
Okay, I'm not a mom, but I love politics and enjoy your blog, does that qualify me to comment here? What I was wondering is does anyone else see an uncanny resemblance between Sarah Palin and Tina Fay? I keep expecting an outburst of hilarity from her!
Tina Fey totally did Sarah Palin on SNL last night!
